"In its simplest form, experiential learning means learning from experience or learning by doing". In this extremely engaging session we will be learning how an active classroom indoors or out can provide learners with: authentic wonderment and opportunities for inquiry, self-awareness, resilience and independence, an immersive curriculum where students are engaged and empowered, increased community connections and environmental stewardship, the opportunity to be mindful - to be still. Team building activities, leadership challenges, reflection and debrief discussions will be highlighted during our lesson. We know outdoor learning provides the teachers with: a natural setting to honour Indigenous ways of knowing and being; opportunities to learn alongside your students; increased confidence to move learning outside the traditional classroom setting; rich organic opportunities to achieve many curriculum outcomes through an emergent curriculum; and personalized experiential learning. Participants will walk away with not only physical resources and *prizes* but a better understanding and confidence for a student-directed classroom. This will be an active session!
